10BASE-T1L (T1L) Ethernet (as defined by the IEEE 802.3cg standard) enables long-distance IP communication over single-pair cabling. The EIMK-T1L SPE Media Converter complies with IEEE 802.3cg to provide a versatile solution for connecting 10BASE-T1L and 10BASE-T networks in full-duplex Ethernet operation. EIMK-T1L supports 10 Mbps full-duplex transmission up to 1 km using a single twisted-pair cable to provide IP connectivity over long distances. It supports plug-n-play functionality via its default configuration.
This UL-listed media converter operates on 24 VAC or 10-36 VDC, while offering redundant power connections. A half-wave rectifier design makes it possible to share the power source with other half-wave devices. Units support DIN-rail mounting.

EIMK-T1L is optimal for new and retrofit applications because it combines the benefits of Ethernet with the flexibility and reach of fieldbus and serial networks. In addition, it can reuse existing cabling for its configuration. In building automation systems, the media converter can be used to upgrade legacy serial networks, such as BACnet MS/TP, LonWorks, or Modbus, to IP-based networks without replacing the wiring.
The built-in microcontroller provides protection against brownouts and voltage fluctuations in the field. It also has four external DIP-switches for configuring advanced features to support additional use cases encountered in the field:

- Link Passthrough for RSTP: Passes link status between the media converter's two port to detect cable breaks on either end. Enables link-loss forwarding to maintain link status integrity providing support for BMS devices in RSTP ring topologies.
- T1L-Line Voltage: Supports 2.4 Vpp and 1 Vpp operating mode. With Auto-negotiation enabled at 2.4 Vpp, the EIMK-T1L adjusts to the partner's mode of 2.4 Vpp or the 1Vpp. Manual 1 Vpp setting available for voltage-limited applications.
- Auto-Negotiation: Allows the EIMK-T1L to initialize itself to its partner T1L device capabilities. "ON" will enable the extended mode.
- Extended Mode: When two EIMK-T1L devices are used in a pair, they can support extra distance on the serial wire by turning off Auto-negotiation.
