When designing or expanding a BACnet network, router selection plays a critical role in system performance, scalability, and security. Contemporary Controls’ BASrouters are a popular choice because they provide a cost-effective, reliable, and easy-to-configure solution for routing between BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, and BACnet MS/TP networks.
We offer two key options: the BASrouter (BASRT-B) and the BASrouterSX (BASRTSX-B and B/P). While both deliver dependable multi-network BACnet routing, each is optimized for different applications. The BASrouter is a proven economical solution for smaller or conventional BACnet networks with moderate routing requirements, while the BASrouterSX is better suited for larger or more complex systems.

Both the BASrouter and BASrouterSX deliver core BACnet routing functionality:

- Support for BACnet/IP BBMD (Broadcast Management Device) and Foreign Device Registration (FDR)
- Integrated web-based configuration and diagnostics

These capabilities allow either router to be used in segmented BACnet systems where interoperability between IP and MS/TP networks is required.
Both the BASrouter and BASrouterSX provide BACnet routing between BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, and BACnet MS/TP networks. The BASrouter is appropriate for many standard routing applications, particularly where system size and feature requirements are more limited. The BASrouterSX includes additional capacity, diagnostic tools, and security features that may be beneficial in larger or more complex systems.
