Video: How to Create a Lighting Control Sequence Using the Sedona Application Editor

A new video demonstrates how to create a simple light dimmer sequence of operation for our BAScontrol22D dual-ethernet unitary controller using the Sedona Application Editor (SAE).

Contemporary Controls' series of BASautomation open controllers feature BACnet as a communications protocol and Sedona as a license-free function block programming language. Each series is freely programmable using our BAScontrol Toolset, a free set of Sedona tools operating on a Windows PC over an Ethernet connection.

The Toolset includes:

  • BASemulator – emulates controller operation on a Windows PC.
  • Sedona Application Editor (SAE) – creates function block wiresheet applications in the Sedona environment.
  • BASbackup – saves, restores, and replicates real or emulated controller settings and Sedona wiresheet applications.

In this video, the SAE deploys I/O components specific to the BAScontrol22D, as well as programming blocks for scheduling, logic, and functionality. The components are placed onto a wiresheet, configured, and then interconnected with other components to create an automatic LED lighting sequence. Once logic is placed on a wiresheet, it is executed immediately making it convenient for program development.

BASautomation open controllers provide cost-effective control without licensing restrictions which make them ideal for use in practical classroom/lab environments. The controllers are freely programmable using the BAScontrol Toolset and allow users to configure, test, emulate, and archive controller operation on a Windows PC before using a real controller.

As a Sedona developer, Contemporary Controls has developed several product lines based on Sedona, such as the BAScontrol Series and the Micro PC Edge Series of BACnet-compliant open controllers, BAScontrol Toolset for unrestricted use in program development and archiving, and Pre-Built Applications for common HVAC applications are available to speed project development.
